Billing & Subscriptions

Manage your plan, payment methods, invoices, and credits. Upgrade, downgrade, cancel, and understand what changes when you switch plans.

Overview

Restore Hub offers four plans: Free, Premium ($4.99/mo), Business ($9.99/mo), and Enterprise (custom pricing). Each plan unlocks more features, higher limits, and lower marketplace fees. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time.

Payments are processed through Stripe (credit/debit cards, bank transfers) and OxaPay (cryptocurrency). All prices are in USD.

Upgrading Your Plan

  1. Go to Billing — In the dashboard, click your profile in the sidebar, then go to Settings → Billing. Or navigate directly to /dashboard/billing.

  2. Select a plan — Click "Upgrade" on the plan you want. You will be redirected to Stripe (or OxaPay if you select crypto) to complete the payment.

  3. Payment processed — Once payment is confirmed, your plan upgrades immediately. All new features and limits take effect instantly — no restart or re-login needed.

  4. Proration — If you upgrade mid-billing cycle, you are charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the current period. For example, upgrading from Free to Premium ($4.99/mo) halfway through the month costs ~$2.50 for the first period.

Downgrading Your Plan

You can downgrade at any time. The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep your current plan's features until then.

When the downgrade takes effect, any resources that exceed the new plan's limits are NOT deleted. However, you will not be able to create new resources beyond the lower limits until you are within them. For example:

  • If you have 8 servers and downgrade to Free (2 server limit), your 8 servers remain functional. But you cannot add a 9th server until you delete some.

  • Backups beyond the new limit are retained but you cannot create new ones until you are below the limit.

  • VPN detection, alt detection, firewall rules, and other premium security features are disabled. Existing firewall rules are preserved (not deleted) but not enforced until you re-upgrade.

  • Custom domains stop working (verification reverts to the slug URL). The domain configuration is preserved so re-upgrading restores it.

  • Scheduled backups are paused.

Warning: Team members are NOT removed when downgrading from Business to a plan without team management. However, they will not be able to access the dashboard until you re-upgrade.

Cancelling Your Subscription

To cancel, go to Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep access to all paid features until then.

After the subscription expires, your account reverts to the Free plan with Free plan limits. No data is deleted — everything is preserved, just restricted by Free plan limits.

You can re-subscribe at any time. Re-subscribing immediately restores all features and limits.

Payment Methods

Restore Hub supports two payment processors:

| Processor | Methods | When to Use |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer (ACH/SEPA) | Default for most users. Fast, reliable, supports recurring billing. |
| OxaPay | Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USDT, USDC, and other cryptocurrencies | For users who prefer crypto payments. Note: crypto payments may have higher processing fees. |

Tip: Stripe subscriptions auto-renew monthly. OxaPay payments are one-time — you will need to manually renew each month or purchase a longer period upfront.

Invoices

Stripe generates an invoice for every payment. You can view and download PDF invoices from the Billing page in the dashboard, or from the Stripe customer portal (accessible via the "Manage Billing" button).

Invoices include: payment date, amount, plan name, billing period, and payment method. For tax purposes, you can add a billing address and tax ID in the Stripe customer portal.

Credits

Credits are Restore Hub's internal currency, stored in cents on your account (creditBalance field). Credits are used for marketplace purchases and ad campaign budgets. They are separate from your subscription.

  • Earn credits: marketplace sales (seller payout), ad revenue (70% share), referral bonuses (20% of referred user's first payment).

  • Buy credits: purchase directly via Stripe or OxaPay from the Credits page in the dashboard.

  • Spend credits: marketplace purchases (buying members) and ad campaign budgets.

  • Credits cannot be cashed out to real money. They are a closed-loop platform currency.

  • All credit movements are recorded in the CreditTransaction ledger with a type (deposit, ad_revenue, referral_bonus, marketplace_sale, ad_spend, marketplace_purchase) and amount.

Warning: Credits do not expire, but they also have no cash value. You cannot transfer credits to another user or withdraw them.

Failed Payments

If a recurring payment fails (expired card, insufficient funds), Stripe retries the charge up to 3 times over the next week. You will receive email notifications about the failed payment.

If all retries fail, your subscription is cancelled and your account reverts to the Free plan. You can re-subscribe at any time with a valid payment method.
